I didn't know Screen Red by HBO also airs TV drama series. I only found out now. Remember to buy DVDs or stream it legally. I read that Netflix also has a limited Asian drama series.
But also support the mangaka by buying the manga published in English.

31. Nodame Cantabile by Ninomiya Tomoko
It was serialized in the magazine Kiss. The 23 volumes manga was published by Kodansha and Del Ray Manga in English. It has been adapted into three seasons anime, covering the whole plot of the manga.
The first TV drama was broadcasted in 2006 on Fuji TV, a year before the anime was aired. The 11 episodes was starred by Ueno Juri and Tamaki Juri. A 4 episodes special showing Nodame and Chiaki in Paris was aired in 2008.
There was also a loosely adaptation South Korean drama starring Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung. It was aired in KBS2 on 2014. I don't recommend Cantabile Tomorrow or Naeil's Tomorrow if you're a fan of the original plot but if you're a fan of Joo Won or any other character like Park Bo Gum (I watched it because of him after seeing him in I Remember You), why not.
Chiaki Shinichi, a piano student, whose dream is to be a conductor but he can't get out of Japan because of his fear of flying and drowning. He finally snaps in one of his class and gets drop. To make it worse, he is dumped by his girlfriend. He ends up getting too drunk and woke up into a seem-like dumpster room of Noda Megumi, hence Nodame, also a piano student to discover they live next to each other.
This series is one of my josei favorites and I think Ueno Juri was a good Nodame.
32. Sumika Sumire by Takanashi Mitsuba
It is a josei manga that is serialized in Cocohana of Shueisha. It currently has five volumes and it hasn't been licensed to be published in English yet.
The TV drama series was released last February 5, 2016. It is aired in Asahi TV every Friday at 23:15 JST. It is starred by Kiritani Rei, Matsuzaka Keiko as Sumi and Oikawa Mitsuhiro.
Kirasag Rumi is 65 years old woman (in the manga summary, she is 60) who has never fallen in love. After her mother's funeral service, a cat named Rei appeared in front of her and granted her wish. She wakes up as a 20 years old again (in the manga she is 17). In the manga, she never got to finish high school if I'm not mistaken but in the drama, it is college.
I haven't seen an episode yet but the manga is promising. Takanashi Mitsuba is the mangaka for Akuma de Sourou and Crimson (Beniiro) Hero.
33. Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji by Hatta Ayuko
Wolf Girl and Black Prince has also been adapted into a 12 episodes anime series. It is serialized in Bessatsu Margaret of Shueisha. It has 14 volumes and still on-going as of today.
The live action film starring Yamazaki Kento and Nikaidou Fumi will be released in Japan on May 28, 2016.
Shinohara Erika, a 16 year old girl, takes a candid photo of handsome boy without knowing anything about him and claims to her friends that he is her boyfriend, only to find out they go into the same high school. Despite Saya Kyouta's outside appearance, he is a sadist who loves to tease Erika and make her life miserable.
For some reason, I'm mistaking this as LDK. It was probably because of the male leads who Yamazaki Kento both portrayed. Both are irritating and arrogant male yet good looking boys. I'm also quite sure that Erika had a haircut in the latter part of the manga or am I confusing them? (I really need to reread). I like this series more because of Erika.
34. Kimi ni Todoke by Shiina Karuho
Reaching You is serialized in Bessatsu Margaret of Shueisha. It was published in English by Viz Media. It has 25 volumes as of today. The series has also been adopted into two series anime.
The live action film starring Miura Haruma and Tabe Mikako was released in 2010.
Kuroma Sawako is a gloomy girl who has the same long hair as Sadako. People in her school avoids her and she is a timid girl who can't approach others. It all changed when Kazehaya, the most popular guy in class, began talking to her. She slowly begins making new friends and bit by bit her classmates see a new her.
I haven't seen the movie (I also wonder why I haven't seen this) but fans of friendship turns to romance will surely enjoy this.
35. Sukitte Ii na Yo by Hazuki Kanae
It is serialized in the magazine Dessert. The current 15 volumes is published by Kodansha. The series has also been published in English by Kodansha Comics USA. It also has an anime.
The live action film was released in 2014. Say I love you was starred by Fukushi Sota and Kawaguchi Haruna.
Tachibana Mei is a quiet high school girl who doesn't have any friends because she believes that people will betray her. Kurosawa Yamato, a playboy and popular guy, becomes interested in her. Their relationship eventually turns into a romantic one and Mei begins making other friends too.
I haven't seen the movie but I'm quite disappointed that Mei's hairstyle is not the same as the manga. I mean I like that mushroom-y look.
36. NANA by Yazawa Ai
This josei manga was serialized in Cookie of Shueisha. It was published in English by Viz Media. It has 21 volumes until 2009 and is still on hiatus up to now after the mangaka got sick and hospitalized. She was released in 2010 but there has been no announcement whether she would or when she would continue the series.
It also has been adapted into anime in 2006. The live action film starring Nakashima Mika and Miyazaki Aoi as the two Nana was released in 2005. The sequel, Nana 2, was released in 2006 but Hachi (Komatsu Nana) was played by Ichikawa Yui because Miyazaki Aoi declined to reprise the role.The actors for Ren and Okazaki Shinichi was also changed.
Nana is the name of the main characters who coincidentally meet in a train on their way to Tokyo. Despite their same names, the two are different. Osaki Nana is a punk lead singer of Black Stones (Blast) with her guitarist boyfriend, Ren. Komatsu Nana has the habit of falling in love easily.
It is a story of love, friendship, and music. I suggest you watch the anime if you still haven't. I loved Anna Tsuchiya (Black Stone) and Olivia (Trapnest Reira) songs on the anime but Nakashima Mika's is also good. I also suggest reading the manga. I haven't seen the second movie so I don't know if that (in the manga) also happened.
37. Kiyoku Yawaku (Beyond The Memories) by Ikuemi Ryo
Beyond the Memories was released in 2013 starring Okada Masaki and Nagasawa Masami.
The whole series, ten acts, was told by different characters. The acts 2, 6 and 10 (Kanna and Roku story) was the one adapted. It tells a story about the girl, Kanna, whose childhood friend and crush was killed in a car accident when she was 15 which she feels guilty about. The same thing happened to Roku. Only it was during his 4th grade when he accidentally pushed his classmate onto the road where a car ran over her.
I haven't read the manga and I only saw the last part of the movie in Red last night by accident (I hope they replay it). The movie received good reviews so I'm expecting more.

38. Zettai Kareshi by Watase Yuu
Absolute Boyfriend was serialized in Shoujo Comic. The 6 volumes series was published by Shogakukan and Viz Media in English.
It's live action adaptation was broadcasted in 2008 on Fuji TV. The drama series has 11 episodes starring Hayami Mokomichi, Mizushima Hiro and Aibu Saki.
The Taiwanese adaptation entitled Absolute Darling was aired in 2012 starring Kim Se Hyun and Jiro Wang. It has 13 episodes.
Izawa Riiko has never had a boyfriend and when she encounters a man who directed her to a website called Kronos Heaven, she customizes a boyfriend and orders one, thinking it was just a game. The following day, a life like male robot appeared in her doorstep.
Despite being well known, I haven't read the manga or watched the Taiwanese adaptation. I remember watching the Japanese drama series but I can't recall ever finishing it. If I have the chance in the future, I might watch it because I wonder who she ends up (though I have ideas) and how.
39. Strobe Edge by Sakisaka Io
The live action film starring Fukushi Sota and Arimura Kasumi was released in 2015.
Kinoshita Ninako has never fallen in love and her friends think she would end up with her childhood friend but when Ichinose Ren, the popular boy at school, accidentally steps and breaks her cell phone charm, she finally understands what it means to fall in love.
This is my favorite series by Sakisaka Io. I have written a review about the manga. But in terms of the movie adaptation, I prefer Ao Haru Ride by only a few. It was probably because the love triangle between Ninako, Ren and Ando wasn't clearly shown in the movie or the part where Ren was trying and a lot more but the train scenes were good. I also think that Yamada Yuki didn't fit the role of Ando though he was great as Kin-chan in Itazura na Kiss.
40. Aozora Yell by Kawahara Kazune
The main casts for the movie are Tsuchiya Tao, Takeuchi Ryouma and Hayama Shouno. The filming will start in April and the movie will be released on August this year, 2016.
It is about a girl who saw a brass performance during a high school baseball championship. She vows to join the club when she enters high school.
I've always wanted to read this series because it has baseball but never got the chance and the series is neither licensed nor translated in English. Kawahara Kazune is also the mangaka of Koukou Debut.
