This 17 volumes series was published by Shueisha and serialized in Bessatsu Margaret. Viz Media translated and published it in English.
This is the famous tall girl-short boy series set in the Kansai region of Japan. Koizumi and Otani is teased by their teacher and classmates as the All Hanshin-Kyojin comedy duo.
The live action film was released in 2006, a year before the anime was broadcast. The movie starring Koike Teppei and Fujisawa Ema was also released in DVD with English subtitle by Viz Media in 2008. The series has also two Drama CDs and an adventure game in 2006.
22. Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu (I gave my first love to you) by Aoki Kotomi
To be honest, I didn't know that this is a spin off her other work, Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru. Probably because I only remember reading a few chapters. This 12 volumes series, BokuKimi was serialized in ShoujoComic and published by Shogakukan.
Aoki Kotomi's work is known for a little smut here and there and her distinctive style of drawing. This series was adapted into a live action film was released in 2009 starring Okada Masaki and Inoue Mao.
The ending of the movie and the manga is different but nonetheless both are tearjerkers though I prefer the manga. There are disputes as to the ending of the manga but the mangaka confirmed it.
BokuKimi is about two childhood friends, Mayu and Takuma, who met in a hospital. Mayu is the daughter of a cardiologist treating Takuma. The story starts when they were still kids and eventually sets off in their last year of middle school then to their high school.
23. Koukou Debut (High School Debut) by Kawahara Kazune
The 13 volumes series was published by Shueisha. It was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret and published in English by Viz Media.
This series was also adapted in Drama CD and six volumes light novel written by Kuramoto Yuu. The movie was released in 2011 starring Mizobata Junpei and Ohno Ito. I haven't seen it but I think Junpei suits the role. The DVD cover looks good.
Koukou Debut is literal in a sense that Haruna, the heroine, is hoping to make a debut in high school after spending her time in middle school playing softball but she doesn't know anything about fashion and love. She convinced Yoh Komiyama, a senpai, to coach her so she could start her love and confess.

24. Kyou Koi Wo Hajimemasu by Minami Kanan
It was serialized in Sho-Comi and published by Shogakukan. The 15 volumes manga has also a two episods OVA.
This is about a old fashioned girl named Hibino Tsubaki who just started high school. She was made fun of by her seatmate and the student who topped the entrance exam, Tsubaki Kyouta, who has really long hair. Hibino who loves styling hair but was too shy to go out in public like that cuts Kyouta's hair. It is the typical jerk, cool yet smart guy who falls for the girl but the story gets good once they get together. The manga's ending is memorable too and the part of their third year high school.
The movie was released in 2012 starring Matzusaka Tori and Takei Emi. I haven't seen the film but I'm planning to.
25. Orange by Takano Ichigo
This series recently ended in 2015. It is a shoujo/seinen manga. Orange was serialized first in Bessatsu Margaret by Shueisha until 2013 and later in Monthly Action by Futabasha. The chapters compiled amount to 5 chapters. I wish the Tankabon too will be published in English (wait, there already is) because Seven Seas is planning to release the series into two omnibus volumes.
The live action film starring Yamazaki Kento and Tsuchiya Tao. It was only released last December 2015 so the DVD is not released yet. But good news for the fan of the series because the anime has been announced and it will premiere this summer. Let's rejoice!
Orange is about regrets, love, friendship and sacrifice. It is a fantasy story where 16 year old Naho receives a letter from her 27 year old self claiming things that will happen in the future.
26. Skip Beat by Nakamura Yoshiki
Fans of SuJu probably also watched this adaptation. Skip Beat is one of the long running shoujo manga. It was serialized in Hana to Yume and published by Hakusensha in 2002. The series has been adapted to anime too. It was also publsihed by Viz Media in English. Currently, it has 37 volumes.
The TV drama series, Extravagant Challenge in English, is a 15 episodes Taiwanese drama starring Ivy Chen, Choi Siwon and Lee Dong Hae.It was aired in 2012. I only saw a few episodes but the plot is almost the same as the manga. I'm also a fan of SuJu but not an avid fan and my bias is Heechul. Maybe it was the effects or the fact that I was rooting for Showa because of Dong Hae that I didn't finish the drama. I also heard that it also ended openly like the anime.
Skip Beat! is about a 16 year old girl who was betrayed by her childhood friend and in order to take a revenge on him, she joined the acting/entertainment industry. It is a funny series and you can't just help but anticipate Kyoko's actions and of course, the budding love story too.
27. Hotaru no Hikari by Hiura Satoru
This is a josei manga serialized in Kiss and published by Kodansha. The 15 volumes series has been adapted into two seasons live action TV drama and a movie.
I remember watching this series but I'm not sure whether I finished it or not but I'm sure I didn't see the season 2. But I must say that there is a vague familiarity in a Korean Drama, Personal Taste. The two are completely different stories but I guess, it must be the house and the main character that I thought so.
The first season of the TV drama series was aired in 2007 by NTV. The 10 episodes was starred by Ayase Haruka and Fujiki Naohito. The 11 episodes season two of the drama was broadcasted in 2010. The movie was released in 2012.
Hotaru does not care about men despite her successful career. She lives alone and is not keen when it comes to cleanliness or her physical appearance. The son of her landlord came to visit the house to inspect it and it turns to be her boss.
28. Mars by Soryo Fuyumi
This series is one of my favorites. It is serialized in Bessatsu Friend from 1996 to 2000. The 15 volumes series was published by Kondasha and Tokyopop in English.
There's a 21 episodes Taiwanese drama starring Barbie Hsu and Vic Shou which was broadcasted in CTS in 2004. It also appeared in Philippines TV (QTV) which I didn't know about even it was such a hit in 2005. It is also said that Rei was driving a Yamaha instead of Ducati.
Mars: Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru is the Japanese adaptation starring Fujigaya Taisuke and Iitoyo Marie. It began airing 0n January 24, 2016 every Sunday at 24:55 JST in NTV.
Mars is actually a description of Rei said by Kira if I'm not mistaken. It was when Kira started drawing Rei and they were in the art room when Rei saw a bust of Mars, the god of war. Feel free to correct me. Anyway, Kashino Rei and Aso Kira first met in a park when Rei was asking for directions. The paper which she drew the direction was a drawing of mother and child. Their second meeting was during the first day of class and it turned out they were classmates.
Mars is a darker themed story that deals about sexual harassment, dreams, family, love, trust, bullying and a lot more. It deeply left an impression on me. That's why I'm now curious to the Taiwanese drama and the new Japanese drama. If you've seen the Taiwanese version, did it follow the manga?
29. Senpai to Kanojo by Nanba Atsuko
This 2 volumes series was serialized in Bessatsu Friend (2004-2005) before it was published into Tankobon by Kodansha.
The live action film starring Shison Jun and Yoshine Kyoko was released last October 2015. The poster looks good so it might be good plus the series is short so I'm betting that it covered the whole story. I can't say anything whether it followed the manga though.
Tsuzuki Rika is a freshman in high school. She and her friend was invited by two senpai into an after school club. Rika falls for one of the senpai, Minohara Keigo.
It's not as popular as the others but it still may be good if you like a school life and unrequited love stories.
30. Gokusen by Morimoto Kozueko
This josei series was serialized in You and published by Shueisha. The 15 volumes series was adapted into anime and three seasons live action TV drama.
The first season is the only series that has the original characters from the manga though it didn't follow the plot of the manga. The 12 episodes starring Nakama Yumie, Ishigaki Yuki, Ito Misaki, Matsumoto Jun was aired in 2002 in NTV. The second season was aired in 2005 and the third season in 2008. The movie was released in 2009. The movie was sort of a reunion but Matsumoto Jun wasn't there. Despite the recurring theme, I still enjoyed the three series. The live action adaptation has no romantic theme between Yankumi and Shin unlike the manga.
Being a granddaughter of a yakuza, Yamaguchi Kumiko, starts teaching in an all boys school while hiding her family background. She is known for her red trainer suit and glasses.
