My (Latest) Top Ten Korean Dramas

I can't believe it took me three years to follow up my post Must Watch Korean Drama back in 2015 which consists of considered classic dramas now in my opinion. I missed the bloom of Korean drama again that started with Descendants of the Sun then followed up by Goblin but don't worry. I've seen both. You'll see if it's included in my current top 10. I've been in a slump that started in the latter part of 2017 that continued up to now. The last series I've seen and finished was Hwayugi.

After thinking about it so much and conferring with my sister (it's hard to pick when there's a lot of choices), I present you my top 10 starting with:

What Kind of Day Review

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

4/5 stars

What Kind of Day is a story of coincidence or fate if you believe in it. Ben who just lost his job accidentally joins an exclusive tour in the Manila run by Naya. A story that is both told in Naya and Ben's POV in the third person.

What I like about Mina Esguerra's books are that the female main characters are different. In a good way, of course. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it but I guess it's how I can't predict the character's actions even though I somehow know how would the story go. There's also something in her writing that I crave in certain days.

I didn't particularly like field trips to Manila back in my student days because I've always thought what else is there to see, and who likes traffic? People also like going to more touristy parts of the Philippines. But Naya delivered something that made me see and her customers a new side to Manila and I think it was awesome. Another thing I liked was the mention of figure skating because I'm a fan of the sport. It's true it's not big in our country and I only became a fan when Michael Martinez made it to the Sochi Olympics back in 2014. To be honest, I don't know any female Filipino figure skater. The sport is hard, the competition is getting stiffer every year, the good coaches are in abroad, and it's not exactly inexpensive. We don't have ice rinks except in malls and most are in Manila only.
