Book Fairs and Sales

I probably am procrastinating because I have a lot of non-writing related deadlines. I do have writing deadlines and some of which I've neglected though I feel the non-writing are more urgent and because it involves penalty and interest if I miss it. (That's an idea, penalizing if I miss my own writing deadlines but the pressure and stress I believe would be too much and I already have enough of those). I ended up focusing on the non-writing thing and missed my writing deadline including my current WIP. I started writing this post in the beginning of the month and now April is almost over. The good thing is the work is lighter now compared to other days.

It's been a long time since I wrote a post other than blog tours and book review. I wanted to write about my experience in MIBF (Manila International Book Fair) and concerts last year but alas, I couldn't find the time until now. It seems like I'm more productive if everything I do is planned for and scheduled for.

So, I want to tell you guys about my experience in the past book fairs/sales I've been. There's another one last weekend which I opt not to go because I'm not sure how to go there and I had a feeling most of the books there would be the remaining unsold stock they had on the last sale which looking at the posts in twitter is quite true.

The first #NBSBookBingeBazaar last February 9 to 11 was amazing. Not something I expected. Plus P175 (Around $3.37) for one hardbound book, count me in. The books were not the latest release but some were released on 2017. We didn't mind as me and my sisters tend to buy books until the series is completed. We went during the first day and we thought arrived early but when we got there there's already a lot of people. The table where they had the Empire of Storms has already been swiped clean. It was a little overwhelming at first because I always go to the first day of MIBF and the crowd wasn't that much. I guess it had to do with the size of the venue and prices of the books.

Read most of these except ADWD, Flyte, and BLTL
Though our copy of Empire of Storms is broken. I guess we were too excited to check it again before we went to the counter. It reminds me that one time when I went to the bookstore and they were having yet a 10% to 20% off to their selected imported books. I was so excited that I forgot to look at the cover of A Dance with Dragons. I realized it too late that it was a different edition from the previous books I've bought. There was also that time when my sister was too excited too see a Holly Bourne's book that she failed to see it wasn't on sale. We live in the province so the selections of books are pretty limited.

Other than that, our books were all good. We bought 9 hardbound and bought 2 softbound books. I already have read two books: When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon and Geek's Guide to Unrequited Love by Sarvenaz Tash while my sister read Running Girl by Simon Mason. Both were a good read. Going to that book sale was definitely worth it. I wanted to return but I had to consider bus fares, the traffic, and my ability to carry all books.
Our #NBSBingeBazaar Book Haul

The other book fair we went to was the Big Bad Wolf Books in World Trade Center last February 16. I was so excited because I saw posts/pictures of their book haul in social medias of those who attended the preview day and I saw a book set of Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater. There were a lot of Percy Jackson's sets but my sister already has the complete series up to Magnus Chase. The only books we're missing is the next book of Apollo's Trial. I was so set on finding the book set but found none. It was so disappointing. We didn't find anything we really like and the fiction section was so crowded and we circled back twice to check out books. In the end, we bought four books, two were for our cousins, one is a educational book.

That's it for our book fair adventures. I want to go to #AprilFeels2018 of #RomanceClass this Saturday but I'm too shy to go alone plus I don't know exactly where it is. I hope they'd be at the MIBF this year. I can't believe I'm already preparing my books to buy list.

See you at the next post or maybe in book fairs. Thanks for reading. Do check out Maggie's works. She's one of my favorite authors. I love the Raven Cycle series. And please check out the Romance Class authors, Filipino authors who writes in English. I'm currently reading Dare to Love by CP Santi and it's set in the province. A single mom x hot anthropologist with tattoos. Just finished it yesterday and it's a book I never knew I needed (will post a full review soon).

Dawn Lanuza's (one of the romanceclass authors) poetry book, The Last Time I'll Write About You, is available nationwide.
